If you love concerts, then you have many to see this weekend! Starting tonight you can see the Turtle Creek Chorale: Heartstrings at the Dallas City Performance Hall. This men’s chorus pays tribute to love songs. You’ll hear a selection of heartbreakers, sonnets, and proposals from from throughout the centuries. Beethoven and Lady Gaga, specifically, are name-checked. Repeat performance on Saturday. If you don’t want love songs, what about Boston at the Verizon Theatre? Though Boston does not have their original vocalist, Brad Delp, the founding member Tom Scholz is worth the price of admission.
Tomorrow night I Love the ‘90’s Tour will be playing at the Verizon Theatre. Salt N Pepa, Kid N Play, Coolio, Rob Base, and Young MC will be on hand to take you right back to the Clinton years—or, if we’re splitting hairs and looking at the release dates for “It Takes Two” and “Push It,” all the way back to the late ‘80s. Now this one will be fun! If 90’s isn’t your thing, what about trying Untapped Fort Worth? This indie rock heavyweight Built to Spill headlines, which should be a good fit for the flannel-wearing, craft beer-swilling denizens of North Texas. At this concert, more than 300 beers from 70-plus breweries will be available.
And last, on Sunday, Buckethead will be at the House of Blues. Wearing a decorative bucket and being really good at guitar are OK, as far as gimmicks go. But I mean…entertainment is entertainment!
